Background
Andrew Carnegie was born in November 15, 1835. He was born in Dunfermline, Scotland. He the immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1848. Carnegie and his parents had economical issues, then at age of 14, Carnegie was hired as a telegrapher. Then in 1853 he was hired as assistant of Thomas Scott, three years later he was hired as superintendent. Later on he grew In The steel industry, making a fortune. He died in 1919.

Accomplishments
-Carnegie made what is now called Pittsburg's Carnegie Steel Company, the largest steel company at the time.
-He produced more steel than all of Britain
-Used his fortune to build local libraries and establish a large number of foundations.

Legacy/Significance
- He revolutionized the steel industry by using the Bessemer Process, which was basically a cheaper and more efficient way to make steel.
- He built public libraries and research institutes that we still use today, he believed that education was very important.
- Carnegie was a philanthropist, meaning he cared a lot about the well being of people and gave a lot donations.
