Lincoln Halloween Update

Halloween Update
Dear Lincoln Families,
In our previous Lincoln Update, I laid out our expectations for Lincoln's Halloween and Fall celebrations for this year. I heard back from some parents that they were disappointed about the lack of an outdoor parade, while also hearing from some that they were grateful the parade was only inside. In an effort to come up with a fun, safe compromise, the following outlines our revised Halloween plan for Friday, October 28 this school year.
AM Kindergarten
9:50 - 10:20 am Classroom Halloween Parties will take place, which are sponsored and organized by our PTA and our parent volunteers. Only parents who are signed up to help with classroom parties will be allowed to participate. Students will be dismissed from school at 10:35 am.
Lincoln School
1:15-1:30 Students will parade within the building to see others' costumes and then outside so parents can see. We will exit Door 2 and Enter Door 4. Our partners at the Police Department will be around to help supervise. The parade route for outside is indicated in the map below.
1:30-2:00 Classroom Halloween Parties will take place, which are sponsored and organized by our PTA and our parent volunteers. Only parents who are signed up to help with classroom parties will be allowed to participate. Students will be dismissed from school at 2:15 pm.
Students are welcome to bring their Halloween costumes to school to put on before the party. Costumes need to be able to be put on independently by the student and go over their clothes. Please keep this in mind when choosing a costume for this year. More detailed costume guidelines can be found in the CCSD15 Parent/Student Handbook and are outlined below:
Per the Student Handbook: Students are permitted to wear costumes on Halloween as long as their attire complies with the above student appearance policy and meets the following set of expectations for a school setting:
- Children should not wear bloody, gruesome, or especially scary costumes. Costumes involving fake blood are not allowed.
- Actual weapons, look-alike weapons, toy weapons or weapon-like objects are not allowed.
- Masks that cover the face and head are not allowed.
- Costume make-up is allowed provided it does not cover the student’s entire face. Staff members must be able to identify students.
- Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype about someone’s culture, gender, heritage or religion are not allowed.
