What You Need to Know

We have received some questions regarding the Coronavirus. Please review the latest information that we have received from the Iowa Department of Public Health. Click on the document to enlarge it. We will share additional information with parents and students when it becomes available.

PCM Elementaries Awarded

The PCM Community School District was informed that Monroe Elementary School and Prairie City Elementary School have been awarded the Honor Plus Level of Recognition from the Iowa Department of Education for their implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in the 2018-2019 school year. They were among 31 recipient schools being recognized this year! Congratulations to the staff in both buildings on this achievement!

PCM 2020 Preschool Registration

Four Year Old Program: Your child must be 4 on or before Sept. 15, 2020 to join our preschool programs at PCM. Classes meet 4 days per week, T-F, 3 hours in the morning (8:00-11:00) or 3 hours in the afternoon (12-3:00). There is no preschool on Mondays. If your child will be attending preschool, please go online to the school website www.pcmschools.org.

  • Click on the Schools Tab

  • Click on neighborhood school tab (Monroe Elementary or Prairie City Elementary)

  • Select Preschool and then a link for Preschool Registration

  • Click on 20-21 Preschool Registration Survey

  • Complete each question for your child’s information

Conversation and Coffee

Parents and caregivers of students with special needs: join the Heartland AEA for “Conversation & Coffee,” their monthly morning coffee group! Learn about community resources and upcoming events and network with parents who have similar experiences and challenges.

Please keep in mind if your student drives from Prairie City to Monroe and you do not feel comfortable with them driving, they are always welcome to park at the Middle School and ride the shuttle bus to the high school.
