Argyle High School = UIL Lone Star Cup Champions!
Argyle High School produced 148 points to capture first place. It was the most points scored by any school in any classification. Canyon finished second with 108.5 points and Boerne had 94 points.
"To win the Lone Star Cup in any year is a tremendous accomplishment for our students, coaches, and sponsors," Argyle High School Principal John King said. "But to win the Lone Star Cup in a COVID year that presented so many challenges is absolutely amazing. I am so proud of our entire school district because let's face it...it takes all of us working together to continue to have the success we have had in our academics, athletics, and fine arts."
This also marked Argyle's 11th Lone Star Cup victory, including nine consecutive. The award was suspended last year due to COVID-19 when UIL activities were canceled during the spring semester.
The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded to the most successful schools in each classification for their performance in academics, athletics and fine arts. Points are awarded in Team Tennis, Cross Country, Marching Band, Volleyball, Robotics BEST, Football, Congress, Spirit, Swimming & Diving, Wrestling, Mariachi, Film, Basketball, Robotics FIRST, Soccer, Academics, One-Act Play, Theatrical Design, Track & Field, Golf, Tennis, Softball and Baseball.
This year, Argyle won state team championships in Football, Marching Band, Boys' Basketball and Boys' & Girls Golf. Argyle also earned state team runner-up in Academics and Spirit.
Each winning school also receives a $1,000 scholarship.

School Board Approves Face-to-Face Instruction Only in 2021-2022
The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved face-to-face instruction only for all students for the 2021-2022 school year during Monday's regular meeting. In addition, the Board unanimously approved masks being optional for all students and employees.
Face-to-face learning will be the only form of instruction available to Eagle students. Virtual learning will no longer be an option. The Texas Education Agency recently informed school districts a funding waiver will not be available for virtual learning and House Bill 1468 (funding for virtual learning) failed in the Texas Legislature.
As the 2020-2021 year progressed, Argyle ISD had a significant percentage of virtual learners who struggled with engagement, academic performance and virtual attendance. Argyle ISD recommended to the Board that face-to-face learning is the most effective instructional option for Eagle students moving forward.
