Parent Update
Watch us SOAR!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Time flies at Clough when we are engaged in learning! Hard to believe it's already December. Here's a list of the updates in my video message:
- We have 2 early dismissals in December. This Friday, Dec. 9 we will dismiss at 12:05 and no lunch will be served. Teachers have professional development in the afternoon. We will also have an early dismissal on Friday, Dec. 23 at 12:05 and no lunch will be served.
- Report cards will be available for you to view in PowerSchool this Friday, Dec. 9.
- PTO is sponsoring a Holiday Shop in school during the week of Dec. 12th.
- Thank you to the parents who attended our last PTO meeting to hear us discuss school safety. Hopefully we will be offering a district-wide information night in January to discuss ALICE training and school safety.
- Miscoe is hosting a holiday movie night this Friday, see flyer below.
- Nipmuc Model UN is hosting a Parent's Night Out on Dec. 16, see flyer below.
- 4th Grade Celebration planning has begun. See info below about submitting photos for the slideshow.
- 4th graders applied for student council last month. 12 students were selected to serve as representatives on Student Council. We have our first meeting Thursday, Dec. 8 at 8:00am.
- The next core value that we will be focusing on as a school is FRIENDSHIP. We spent the last several weeks focusing on ACCEPTANCE, now we turn our attention to FRIENDSHIP. See the graphic down below for more info about the different kinds of activities we will be doing related to this core value.
- A reminder that due to health and wellness, allergies, and medical issues, please do not send food items in on your child's birthday.
- Some students have been bringing in Speks, tiny magnetic balls that are meant for adults to use as a stress relief product. These are not meant for kids and there is a safety risk if students put them in their mouth. Please help us and monitor the items that your child brings into school.
- We have had quite a large number of students being brought back to school by the bus company because no one has been home to get them off of the bus. As a working mom, I understand the challenges of keeping track of schedules, dealing with traffic, etc. Please make every effort to be home to meet the bus or let us know if you have to make a different plan. It makes for an extra long day for kids if they have to return to school, and causes stress and sometimes tears.
We hope you have enjoyed the Literacy BINGO boards that Mrs. Zalusky, our reading specialist, has been sending home each month. I want to remind families that these are optional, and are simply meant to help bring literacy out of the classroom. We want students to develop a love of reading and writing. While the prizes are a bonus and exciting to receive, we hope that these BINGO boards are helping to connect home and school and foster more literacy love.
Hope you enjoy the upcoming weekend and stay healthy!
Sincerely,
Liz Garden
Clough Principal
4th Grade Celebration!
Note from the Nurse...
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community healthy.
- Please remember to send your children in with warm coats, hats and mittens as the weather gets colder. We try to get them outside whenever possible.
- Please send your child in with 1-2 water bottles daily. Encourage them to take them home and wash them each day.
- If your child is sick enough to need medication before school they probably shouldn't be coming into school. As we are entering into flu season please remember that students need to remain home until they have been fever free for 24 hours without medication, No vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours and have the stamina to make it through the entire school day. Let's keep everyone happy and healthy this season!
- If you have any clothes your child is outgrowing the nurses office is in need of clothes sizes 5-10 for boys and girls, including underwear. The nurses office is running low on bottled water for those who forget theirs. If you would like to donate any cases of water, it would be greatly appreciated!
