What's Happening This Week?
Hi all! Excited for another awesome week of school with your fabulous students! Just a few things for this week:
Open House is this Tuesday evening! There is a delicious spaghetti dinner starting at 5:00, followed by a presentation for parents in the auditorium at 6:00 and a chance to pop into the classroom at 6:30. I hope to see you all there - if you'd like to come but you need transportation, please don't hesitate to let me know and I can help set that up!
I wanted to remind you all that BOG scores went home with your child last week, so if you haven't seen them, be sure to check their purple folder. Remember, the BOG is a test based on what students should know at the end of third grade, so if your student's score surprised you in any way, just know that we've got a whole year to teach them everything they need to know to knock that EOG out of the park! (As a side note, if you'd like to schedule a conference with me, please feel free to request it!)
A happy announcement - we are COMPLETELY finished with our beginning-of-the-year testing!! At this point, your student has been tested in MClass to find their reading level, taken the BOG, and taken two iReady tests on the computer in both reading and math. iReady is an awesome program that figures out exactly which skills your student needs support in and then prescribes them activities to help build those skills! If the student genuinely tries their best on the iReady test, the activities should be fun and perfect for them. It's an excellent blended learning experience, so I'm excited to get that started!
Check out the 'What Are We Learning' section below to see how we'll be making the most of this full five-day week in our classroom, and check out the class pet calendar as well - that's new! As always, email, call, or text with any questions or concerns you have. It's going to be a great week!
What Are We Learning This Week?
- Wit & Wisdom (Literacy): Starting our Exploration unit with an exploration of poetry and of the sea.
- Reading Groups: Determined and set up this week!
- Social Studies: Maps and location!
- Math: Arrays, math multiplication games, practicing our facts, and at the very end of the week - division!
