Superintendent's April Message
Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines. It’s a message that prompts me to think about resilience, especially in challenging times. Design39 Campus
The Design39 Campus is the recipient of the Award of Excellence for New Construction Projects from the Coalition for Adequate School Housing or (CASH). D39C was chosen for its “Design-Thinking Environment,” beautifully composed spaces, and an outside-the-box design. Jurors were also impressed with the planning process that included a three-day symposium with teachers, administrators, business leaders, and the local community.

Team Spyder
The Poway High School Robotics team (Team Spyder 1622) came home from the Idaho Regional competition with the highest award, the Chairman’s Award. They secured a spot in the International Worldwide Championship FIRST Robotics Competition in St. Louis later this month.
Academic WorldQuest
In their first competition, four Del Norte High juniors qualified for the national Academic WorldQuest competition, which tests knowledge of global issues and foreign policy. Maddy Malowney, Team captain Daniel Shevchuk, Armaun Rouhi, and Gleb Shevchuk will be competing in the two-day event, this Friday and Saturday, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

National Merit Finalists
This year, the Poway Unified School District has 71 high school students who are National Merit Scholarship finalists. Finalists must also have an outstanding academic record, be endorsed and recommended by a school official and earn SAT scores that confirm their qualifying PSAT test performance. A select number of students will be chosen to receive the prestigious National Merit Scholarship.

RB Dance Champions
Rancho Bernardo's competition dance team finished their season with championship wins at the USA Dance Nationals and the West Coast Elite Dance competition. Senior Kylie Yamane also won first place in the solo category at both competitions as well!

Wax Museum
History came to life at Painted Rock Elementary School when three fourth-grade classes brought historical figures ranging from athletes to politicians to life with a wax museum, featuring the students in costume.
State Capitol Visit
"Max Out my Class"
Linda Rasmussen's 3rd grade class at Highland Ranch Elementary got "Maxed" out, with a fun visit from MAX FM and a $200 gift card from Mission Federal Credit Union for classroom supplies.

Odyssey of the Mind
Congratulations to Adobe Bluffs Elementary, Black Mountain Middle School, Deer Canyon Elementary, and Westview High School for their wins at the Odyssey of the Mind Coastal Region competition! Several of the teams headed to the state competition at UC Riverside on April 2nd.

- The SDCOE's Innovative Video in Education program announced the nominees for their April 23rd Awards Ceremony. PUSD leads the pack with 22 nominations.
- Three "thumbs up" from the Pomerado News for Poway Unified schools and teachers.
