Leader in Me

We are a Leader in Me school. Leader in Me is an operative system that unites students, staff, and families around a common goal to prepare students with college, career, and life-readiness skills that are necessary to thrive in today's ever-changing, fast paced environment.

At the beginning of the year, we focus on leadership roles, mission statements, Wildly Important Goals (WIGs), and leadership notebooks.

In May, students are reviewing the Habits, Paradigm 5, and learning about Trust Behavior 12: Keep Commitments, and Trust Behavior 13: Extend Trust.

Accelerated Reader

Reading 20-30 minutes daily is recommended for students. K-5 students will have an AR goal to meet every six weeks. After meeting an AR goal, students are encouraged to continue taking AR tests as often as possible to try to reach the grade level target word count by May.

Below are the word count targets:

Kindergarten - 50,000 words

First - 100,000 words

Second - 250,000 words

Third - 500,000 words

Fourth and fifth - 1,000,000 words

Tutor.com

Bibb County School District (BCSD) and Tutor.com, one of the world’s largest online tutoring services, have partnered to provide live, online tutoring services for BCSD students. Through this partnership, BCSD students in grades K-12 can access live tutors on-demand online 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 1-to-1 learning support.

The service provides homework help across more than 120 subjects, along with drop-off essay review and test prep. Spanish-speaking families and students will also be able to access live, Spanish-speaking tutors.

Students will be able to access Tutor.com through their ClassLink landing page on an internet browser, which will automatically sign in the student to their account.
