The Roaring 20s and Tumultuous 30s
The years following the WWI were prosperous ones, but there were many events that would lead to the second World War. The end of the 20s saw the Wall Street crash that sunk the world's economies into the depths of a depression the likes no one had ever seen and the rise of Nazism in Germany that led to the Holocaust and another World War with roots leading back to the end of WWI. The rise of Benito Mussolini in Italy, Adolf Hitler in Germany as well as Emperor Hirohito in Japan all were the result of nationalism.
Additionally, Albert Einstein's scientific breakthroughs influenced the world in ways even he could not predict. It has been said that Einstein noted that, had he known the end result of his scientific work (nuclear weapons and the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of WWII,) he would never have completed his work in the first place.
So get ready for an interesting study of the world in the "between the wars!"
