Leadership Message

Welcoming our Littlest Learners to SJXXII: Let them be little...

It is an exciting week for our Saint John XXIII community as Pre-K and Kindergarten registration opened on Tuesday! It is such a special time to welcome our tiniest learners and their families to our school! Being able to be a part of their faith and learning journeys is a tremendous blessing and we are very grateful. As your child’s first and most important teacher, you play an integral part in their education and together, we will help them be all they can be. As parents, we always hope the people who walk with our children see them with the eyes we do and discover their beauty and gifts. As Catholic educators, we are called to see each child as a gift, inherently loved and valued beyond measure. Thank-you for choosing Catholic education and thank-you for choosing Saint John XXIII!

Blessings,

Mrs. Boehm

Pre-K & Kindergarten Registration is Open!

Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration is open! Registrations are only being accepted online. Please go to our school district website: www.eics.ab.ca “Parents and Students” “School Registration”. At this time, for our Saint John XXIII students, we are hoping to offer two Kindergarten classes: full days Mon/Wed and Tues/Thurs (alternating Fridays) for the 2019-2020 school year. As well as, Pre-K: two classes: 4 mornings per week (8:30-11:30 am) and 4 afternoons per week (12:30-3:30 pm). As always, these programs are dependent upon enrollment.

There will be an Open House on Wednesday, February 27 from 9:15-10:30 am where parents can come visit our school, observe the Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms, take a school tour, and hear the exciting learning journeys of our Pre-K and Kindergarten students. If this date does not work, you can also book a school tour, please contact the office.@ 780-998-7777. We are so excited to journey with our tiniest learners!

World Read Aloud Day-Feb. 1st Read Aloud. Change the World.

We are very excited to share that our school is participating in World Read Aloud Day on Friday, February 1, 2019. We continue to celebrate our love of literacy at SJXIII by bringing stories to life and engaging our kids in reading together. We will begin our day by listening to the amazing storyteller, Mr. David Bouchard, a Canadian Award winning author. Mr. Bouchard will share the gift of reading and symbols from his Métis heritage with our students. Grades 2-4 9:30-10:30 am and grades K-1 from 10:55-11:25 am. Read more about this amazing Canadian storyteller here.

At 12: 35 pm, we will gather in the gym for a Read Aloud from Mrs. Boehm, followed by small, break-out Read Alouds from SJ staff members around our school. Please feel very welcome to join us in the morning or afternoon and come be a part of our day! Read more about World Read Aloud Day here.

Home invitation: We encourage all of our SJ families to create your own special read aloud moment at home and share this with us. Use #WorldReadAloudDay on Twitter and tag our school @ST_John XXIII and @litworldsays or send us your pictures from home and we can share your awesome moments in our weekly Good News, Twitter, and Facebook page. Send your pictures to Mrs.Boehm -bonnie-lynneb@eics.ab.ca. Or simply curl up with a book and your child and just enjoy the moment.
