Audition Results
MHS Choir Audition Policy
A part of our work as teachers is teaching students how to handle auditions: how to handle good news with grace, how to handle less desirable news with dignity, how to ask for feedback in a constructive and professional manner, and how to make informed and rational choices based on the information received. It is in this spirit that the following procedures are set in place regarding inquiries about these results:
Students – Please be mindful that every single student is going through "audition pains;" over-celebration of good news can be hurtful to those who did not achieve the desire audition outcome. On the other hand, it is still possible for one to be disappointed with his or her own results and still be supportive of their peers.
For those whose result was not what was hoped for, please know that every consideration was afforded to this process in order to facilitate the best possible opportunity for performance and growth during the coming year. No one can decide for you what to do next if you did not achieve your desired result, however, we do hope that whatever you decide, you do so after having carefully considered what choir has meant to you and what you might accomplish as a member of your new ensemble.
Anyone with questions about his/her audition may begin contacting the choir office, via e-mail, 48 hours after the posting of these results. Inquiries about auditions are to be made via e-mail; this is so that Mr. Wright may receive and review any inquiries in detail and provide a thorough and detailed response to each student seeking additional information. The reason for the extended period of time between posting and requests for additional information, is to allow each student the time carefully consider what it is they desire to know in order to learn/grow from their audition experience.
Parents – While I understand your eagerness to act on behalf of your student, and while I will certainly respond to your requests for information, I respectfully ask that you allow your student to initiate communication regarding audition results before contacting me directly. It is our hope, that through the implementation of this process, students will learn how to gather information and formulate questions that will assist them with acquiring knowledge critical for self-improvement and personal growth.
I am incredibly proud of every student in the MHS Choral Department and remain committed to providing each student in each of our choirs the same level of care and attention. If you cannot find your name on any list please email the choir office immediately. I have triple checked this list for accuracy; however, no system is perfect.
If you name has ### please contact me for more information regarding your placement.
I look forward to working along side each of you in the coming year as we continue to expand and grow tradition of choral excellence that is alive and well at Mansfield High School. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to serve all of our students through this process.
