Second Grade News
November 13-20
It's more likely to have blue M & M's in your fun packs!
- The past week we finished our probability unit. To wrap it up, Second graders discovered which colors were more likely to be picked from their M & M fun packs.
Save the Turkeys!
- Second graders had 45 minutes to complete a set of clues to try to save the turkeys from being a Thanksgiving meal. They had fun working together to solve a variety of math problems and to crack the codes.
American Symbols Project
- Second graders read about different American symbols. Their job was to construct a clay model that looked just like the symbol they read about. Then, they presented their symbols to the class.
Author's Purpose
- We learned that an author might write to entertain, inform, or persuade us. We discussed what it meant to entertain, inform, and persuade. Then, we came up with our own books examples. Finally, the students performed "Author's Purpose Surgery." The surgeons had to cut out books and glue them under the correct band-aid. The band-aids were labeled entertain, inform, and persuade.
