Pursuit of, Expectation of, Excellence!
Delayed School Opening
Salem Community Schools Families,
A Salem Community Schools Staff member has tested positive for Covid-19 prior to the start of our school year. This employee was not in contact with any students, but was in contact with fellow staff members. In accordance with state and local guidance, all employees that were in direct contact with this individual are self quarantining for 14 days. In order to deep clean facilities and maintain the safest environment for all students and staff, we have made the decision to delay the start of school from Monday August 10th, until Monday August 17th. We will begin our school year on Monday August 17th for both in person and Online Lions students!
All activities scheduled this week for middle school and elementary will be pushed back one week. High School athletics will proceed as originally scheduled. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we execute our safety protocols to create the safest learning environment possible for the students and staff of Salem Community Schools.

Welcome Back! - Monday August 17th
On behalf of Salem Community Schools, we are excited for the 2020-21 school year and the opportunity to work with our amazing students. In this newsletter we will highlight important back to school information, links to our return to school plans, important contact information, individual building newsletters and our Salem Success Pyramid. We understand challenges will be present this year, but so will opportunities for success. We are not naive to think Covid-19 will not impact our community and schools at some point this year. Whether our instruction is done in person, remote or through Online Lions, we will work hard to create a safe and inviting environment for all students and staff. Blessings to everyone. We are Salem! Roar Lions!
