Hello Buckeye Families!
It's hard to believe October is already here and the end of the first quarter is near. Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for October 8 and 22, the information on how to schedule a conference is provided below.
We are getting ready to celebrate Buckeye Homecoming week, with spirit week beginning October 5 - 9. Themed spirit days are listed below and we encourage all students, including our VLA students to participate.

We celebrated Sandy Hook Promise’s “Start With Hello” Week during the week of September 21–25, 2020. Start With Hello brings attention to the growing epidemic of social isolation and empowers young people to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school, youth organization and community. Each day, students had a different theme to help us continue to create a culture of inclusion here!
Next week begins our annual Homecoming Spirit Week! Each day has a daily spirit theme! Please see the daily themes listed below!

Buckeye Elementary Book Fair - October 5-18
Our book fair is online this year! Support our school and help your child discover new books, favorite characters, value packs, and more! Orders delivered to your home. Parent Teacher Conferences 2020-21
All parent teacher conferences will be held virtually this year. BIS parents will be able to schedule their conferences electronically using the PTC Fast website beginning Friday, September 25. Conference dates and times are listed below.
Buckeye Intermediate conference times are 4:00-7:30 PM on the following dates: October 8, October 22 and November 4.
Report Cards Available Online October 23 after 4 PM
Parents will be able to access 1st quarter report cards online and print them directly from Progress Book online on October 23rd after 4 pm. If a student owes school, lunch, fundraiser, or library fees, parents will be able to view the report card online, but the printing capability will be disabled.
Parents need a Progress Book account in order to view and print student report cards. If you don't already have a Parent Progress Book account, you will need to create one for your student. In order to create an account, parents need a a registration key for their student. A registration key can be be requested using the link below.
Students may log in to their student Progress Book account using the "sign in with Google" button.

We can provide a hard copy of the report cards for legal purposes ONLY. Please contact kmoore@buckeyeschools.org to obtain a hard copy. Hard copies of report cards will be mailed home. They will NOT be sent with students
Yearbooks for 2019-20 School Year
Due to personnel changes at Lifetouch and Covid related issues, many people had their yearbook purchase fee refunded to them. Lifetouch is working with us to make sure that anyone who ordered or would still like to order a yearbook is able to do so.
If you ordered a yearbook and received a refund, you will need to repurchase the yearbook(s) using THIS LINK, which will be open through October 1.

School Planners and Agenda Books Have Arrived
Intermediate Agenda books are now available. VLA parents may pick them up in the entryway of the Buckeye Intermediate School, Monday - Friday. Enter through the main doors of the building. The agenda books are located on two separate carts in the entryway. 4th Grade books are on the left and 5th and 6th Grade books are on the right.
FREE Take Home Meals for VLA Students
For those parents opting for virtual learning, we will offer take home meals for you to pick up each Monday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the student drop off/pick up driveway behind Buckeye Elementary. The program will be available beginning Monday, September 14, 2020. The meals will include five days’ worth of lunches. There will be a sign up available each week on the Buckeye Local Schools website. We ask that you complete the request form by 12:00 pm the Thursday prior to the scheduled pick up on Monday so we can have time to assemble the meals The meals will include cold sandwiches, salads, microwave options, fruits/vegetables and milk. We are asking parents or guardians to drive up to the designated driveway signage and remain in their cars. A volunteer will bring the food out and place it in your car or trunk in an effort to maintain social distancing.
FREE Lunch Offered to ALL Students Through December 31st
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced it will provide free lunch status through December 31st. This means all Buckeye students both in person and online will receive free lunches through the end of December. Again, ALL students are eligible for free lunch. Students just need to go through the lunch line using their student ID number to redeem the free lunch meal. Please encourage your student(s) to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity provided through the USDA.

Boy Scout Troop 500 and the Webelos from pack 3500 worked incredibly hard on the Buckeye Intermediate Garden! It looks AMAZING! Thank you from Mrs. Barnhart, Mrs. Davisson, and Buckeye Intermediate students and staff!
Buckeye Student Mask Information
Per the Medina County Health Department, all students are permitted to wear cloth masks, surgical face masks, and gaiters. Please remember, whichever mask you choose, the student's nose and mouth must be covered. Please make sure your child has their MASK each day and is ready to get on the bus with their mask or out of the car with their mask...ready to go! We only have a limited supply of masks available for students who may forget/lose/damage their masks.
Car Rider Information - Drop Off and Pickup Procedure
If you are planning on your child being a CAR RIDER, the drop off begins at 8:20 AM and runs to 8:45 AM. Intermediate students get dropped off at the Intermediate playground and Primary students get dropped off at the Primary Playground. This will be the same for pick up in the afternoon. We also ask that you do not pass other cars in the line, please stay in the flow of traffic. Thank you for understanding!

No Visitors Permitted Inside School Premises
No parents or outside visitors will be permitted to enter buildings, until further notice. If you need to drop something off for your student at the school, there will be an area outside the office doors, in the entranceway where you may leave your student's items. Upon entering the school, please utilize the bell system (button) located to the right of the office doors to notify the office staff what you are leaving for your student. Office hours are from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Student Fees 2020-21
School fees for students Grade 4-6 are $80. $40 per grade level for workbooks and materials and a $40 tech fee for the maintenance of BIS-issued electronic devices.
If a VLA student does not use a BIS-issued electronic device, they will not be required to pay the $40 tech fee.
Students must pay all past and current year's school fees. Students with unpaid school fees:
- will be unable to print student report cards or receive a printed copy of report cards
- will be ineligible to participate in school-sponsored fundraisers
- will be ineligible to attend school field trips, including 6th Grade camp
Payment can be made with cash or a check made payable to Buckeye Intermediate School. Parents may also pay online using the online payment system, PayForIt.net.
Little Bucks Preschool Tuition Information
Little Bucks Preschool Tuition is due the 1st of each month. It is $160.00 per month. Please note: tuition is not pro-rated for a later start in the month.
All payments must be received in the Intermediate office on or before the 7th of each month to avoid the $25 late payment fee. Any payment received in the office after the 7th of each month will automatically be assessed the $25 late payment fee. Mailed checks will be considered late if postmarked after the 7th of the month.
Cash and checks made payable to Buckeye Intermediate School are accepted in the office. They can be mailed or dropped off in the office. Please do not send payments with your preschool student. Preschool teachers can not accept payments. Tuition payments may also be made online using PayForIt.net
PLEASE NOTE: Failure to make tuition payments in a timely manner will result in removal from the program. In addition, any student with an outstanding balance at the end of the school year (tuition, late tuition payment fees, past due fundraiser) will be prohibited from attending Preschool graduation, Preschool field trips, the End of the Year Preschool Picnic, and from enrolling in Little Bucks Preschool the following school year.

Spring 2020 Fortune Cookie Sale - Online Payment Available
Unfortunately, due to the mandated school closure, our Fortune Cookie Fundraiser was interrupted. Many of you currently have a box(es) of candy at home and have been unable to return the money you raised. Our partners at Diamond Fundraising have assisted us with a payment solution to enable us to complete the fundraiser. Please do not bring or send money to the school as we are unable to accept it at this time. If you have a PayForIt account for your student, you may also make an online payment there as well.
