Thanksgiving Wishes
As we look forward to Thanksgiving next week, I extend gratitude on behalf of the entire Clow staff. Thank you for sharing your children with us. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your suggestions and kind words. When I spend time with my own family next week, you can be sure I’ll be expressing gratitude for each and every Clow Cougar! We wish you and your family well as you enjoy time with one another next week.
Warm Regards,
--Katie Bennett
District Boundary Feedback
If you have not yet had an opportunity to provide feedback and would like to do so, please use this link to access the district's boundary page. The link to take the boundary survey and provide feedback is at the top of that page.
Thank you for your continued investment in this process and our school!
Student Council Food Drive
Wow!!! What an incredibly generous community we are a part of! Thanks to all students and families who have so generously donated to our Student Council Food Drive. Due to your generosity, we have already taken two carloads worth of donations to Loaves and Fishes and another one or two will be necessary!
There is just one day left for donations. Please see flyer for preferred items that they need. Loaves and Fishes Most Needed Donation List. New this year, Families have the opportunity to donate virtually at our virtual food drive link. If you donate virtually, add Clow Elementary School as the company,
Thanks for your support!
IPEF Gifts of Gratitude Program
The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) is offering the opportunity to honor a special IPSD 204 teacher or staff member through their ‘Gifts of Gratitude’ program. Share your appreciation by making a tax-deductible donation to IPEF on behalf of your honoree through December 10th. Your honoree receives a personalized certificate prior to the holiday break to commemorate your gratitude and their name is displayed on the IPEF website’s ‘Wall of Gratitude’ that recognizes outstanding educators.
Your tax-deductible Gifts of Gratitude donation supports IPEF’s Teacher Innovation Grants program. Gifts of any size are meaningful, welcome and discreet – donation amounts are not disclosed to the honoree. https://ipef204.org/recognize-great-teachers/
Cougar Call Outs
During the month of November, we often look for ways in which we can show our thanks and appreciation to others. Care to express gratitude to a special Clow teacher or staff member? Please consider completing THIS FORM to share a special message with a staff member. You may choose to be specific or anonymous.
These Call Outs will be shared by Mrs. Bennett directly with the staff member and this form can be submitted by a parent/guardian or fellow staff member.
We will share Cougar Call Outs throughout the month of November!
Clow Giving Tree
The Holidays are quickly approaching and Clow School would like to extend the spirit of giving by offering families and staff an opportunity to contribute a gift to families who may not otherwise be able to provide gifts for their children this winter season.
A Giving Tree with snowman ornaments is displayed in the main school entryway (vestibule). Each ornament on the tree lists an item that would be greatly appreciated by a child.
If you would like to contribute, you are welcome to get an "ornament" off our Giving Tree in the following ways:
- stop by the school (during the school day, between 9:15 - 3:00), ring the main office buzzer, and enter the vestibule to choose an ornament
- consider choosing an ornament off the tree if you are attending an in-person conference on November 18th
- call our office and ask that Mrs. Weston or Mrs. Wenman send an ornament home with your child
- send your child's teacher an email and give permission for your child to take one off of the tree to bring home
When you have purchased the item(s) listed on the ornament, the gifts should be wrapped and the ornament specifying the contents should be securely attached to the gift. Gifts can be returned with your child to be dropped off to the main office or you may drop off the wrapped gift during the hours of 9:15-3:00 on school days.
Wrapped gifts should be returned to school by Thursday, December 16th.
If you would prefer to contribute a gift card to be given to a family in need, you are welcome to do so. Gift cards may also be dropped off to our main office.
Thank you so much for keeping the holiday spirit alive at Clow School!
Cold Weather Reminders
Thank you for assisting your students with dressing appropriately for our impending colder temperatures. Hats, scarves, gloves, and boots will all help to keep our students warm as they arrive and leave school each day. As a reminder, throughout the winter months, students will participate in outdoor recess when the conditions allow. The temperature and/or wind chill must be greater than 5 degrees and we also review the condition of the blacktop areas for ice, etc. to ensure that students can safely play outdoors on that day.
Thank you for helping to make sure that students have what they need for the upcoming cold winter days.
News from the LMC - Birthday Books
Are you looking for a great way to celebrate your child’s birthday at school? Whether your child has already had a birthday this school year, or it is coming up...Clow LMC has the answer! You can donate a book to Clow’s LMC to honor your student AND help build our library collection! Here are two ways to participate:
1. Go to Amazon.com. Use the following link to access our wishlist:
You will find books to add to our library collection to purchase for the LMC. The book(s) will be sent directly to our school from Amazon. It's that easy!
2. Send an email to nicole_fader@ipsd.org letting me know your student is able to pick a new book from the birthday book cart in our library. I will generate a $15.00 fee in PushCoin. On or around the date of your child’s birthday, your student will be able to come to the LMC and select a book! (Summer birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the school year.)
With either choice, I will add your student’s picture inside the front cover of the book commemorating the donation and hang his/her picture on the wall of the LMC. Thank you for considering this program! If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me @ nicole_fader@ipsd.org.
Clow Schoolbag Website
If you have not had a chance to check out our Clow Schoolbag website, this is a great resource for many curricular extensions and tie-ins.
It is housed on our Clow homepage (look for the pencil icon) or you can also find it on the LMC homepage.
Health & Safety Reminders
- Remember to send your student(s) with a mask every day. We recommend sending in extra masks in your child's backpack, in the event they need a spare. We have disposable masks available should a student need one.
- Please do not send your student to school when he/she is sick. If you are unsure, please consider the COVID self-certification questions. If you would have to answer YES to any question on the certification, please do not send the student to school.
- If your child is ill, please do not send any siblings (living in the same household) to school (in any grade level). Contact the health office of the school your symptomatic student attends and ask for further instructions.
- If your child requires a COVID test or if you have questions related to illness or testing, please contact our school nurse, Rhonda Parks - rhonda_parks@ipsd.org or 630-428-6079. She is glad to assist.
