Off To A Great Year!
We are settling in and getting to know each other in order to create our own little community. We have been learning the 3 Big Expectations of Meadowview...Respect, Responsible, and Safe!
First Day Pictures!
Building Our Stamina
We have started our reading workshop by discussing that there are 3 ways to read a book. We have been practicing our stamina.....This means we are working to see how long we can sit in one place and read our books.
Quiz Quiz Trade
We have been practicing subitizing (the ability to quickly identify the number of items in a small set without counting.) through a fun activity called Quiz Quiz Trade.
Homework packets will start this week!
I have assessed our little readers on their letter names and sounds. I am sending these assessments home this week with letters to practice at home. We will be working on these at school, but the more practice they get, the quicker they will become readers. Thank you in advance for helping.
Testing this week
I will be assessing our little readers Tuesday and Wednesday. Therefore, I will have a substitute teacher. This assessment will help me to guide my instruction and to differentiate to reach every child. We will also be taking the STAR Early Literacy test on Thursday. This test will be taken on Chrome Books. I will go over the test results with you during parent/teacher conferences in November.
Meadowview's Curriculum Night is Thursday, September 17th at 6:30. I have already covered Kindergarten curriculum during our Orientation. Therefore, on the 17th, I will be presenting ideas on how to help your little one at home with reading. I hope to see you on the 17th.
