Ridgeview Charter Middle School
2017-2018 Professional Learning Update
Our Theme on February 20th is Reaching Out !
February 20th is a student holiday. During this time, teachers will have the unique opportunity to learn from colleagues at other schools across the metro Atlanta area. Teachers will visit schools within and outside our cluster to develop strategies to improve the quality of our work with Ridgeview students.
The plan for the day is simple. Groups of teachers will visit schools in the morning to observe classrooms and collaborate with colleagues. This time will be used to gather ideas that will improve IB-MYP instruction and support teacher growth. Some groups of teachers will visit Riverwood cluster schools to develop ideas that will support successful student transition to 6th grade and to 9th grade. Other groups of teachers will visit metro-Atlanta area schools to learn about how other schools deliver IB-MYP, AVID School-wide strategies, Personalized Learning, and PBIS. At 2:00, the faculty will re-convene at RCS to share take-aways from their school visits and discuss next steps for their work as professionals and as members of professional learning communities (PLCs) .
