Reminders
- Report cards will go home on Tuesday, January 23rd or Wednesday, January 24th. Due to not having heat in our building yesterday, some teachers were unable to work and complete report cards. We appreciate your patience in getting these to you.
- Cold and Flu season is upon us. If your child is absent due to illness, please send the doctor's note with your child when they return letting us know the reason for their absence. It is very important that you send this note within 5 days of the absence for the absence to be excused. We can also accept parent notes for up to 10 absences as long as you send the note within 5 days of the absence. If you have questions about your child's absences or our attendance policy, please call our office.

We will be having Spring Sports Sign-ups this week during our Physical Education classes.
If your son/daughter is interested in trying out for Softball, Baseball, Boys Track, or Girls Track please make sure they sign-up this week.
(They are allowed to participate in both Softball/Track or Baseball/Track)
Things they will need in order to tryout, HMS Athletic Packet, which includes a current physical. (these forms can pick up at main office or in their PE class)
If your son/daughter is unsure if they have the proper paperwork on file, please have them speak to our Athletic Director-Tammy Dills.
Nurse's Nook
Our nurse's Jamie and Kim regularly share information that is helpful for our staff. We will be sharing that information in this section of our weekly newsletter. This week they shared an information sheet on the Facts of Lice.

Educational Opportunity Absences
This is how the process works:
1. complete a K-12 Educational Opportunity Form and return it to Mrs. RIch. This form must be submitted for approval at least 5 days before the anticipated absence.
2. if the travel absence is approved as an educational experience, you will receive written notification of this approval along with the documentation requirements for the experience.
3. When your student returns to school , he/she will share the educational opportunity documentation with his/her homeroom teacher. At this time, the homeroom teacher will advise Mrs. Rich that the requirements of the educational opportunity had been met and the absences will THEN (not before) be excused.
4. Five (5) is the MAXIMUM number of days each school year that can be excused as an educational opportunity.
