Mrs. Walters News
It’s been another great week at Bushnell! It’s hard to believe the first trimester of school will finish up at the end up next week. Happy Veterans Day on Saturday to all of our vets out there! We are thankful for your service.
Our district mental health team assembled a page of resources for our community that includes counseling services, contact information, and specialized groups depending on need. You can check those out here, located on our LAS home page.
We conducted our first lockdown drill this week. We are required to hold three of these drills throughout the year. We also coordinate with law enforcement to ensure we perform this drill in the safest, most efficient way. I'm happy to share that every single door was locked properly, it was silent throughout the building, and everyone was out of sight. Great job to all!
Thank you to our PTO group! Every classroom was gifted a set of headphones to use with our chromebooks cart so that each child has their very own set! Your generosity is appreciated!
MARK YOUR CALENDAR! We will hold our annual STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) Night on Thursday November 30th from 4:30-6:00. Details will be coming home either today or early next week! look for a light blue sheet in your child's backpack. This is always a really fun event that you won't want to miss!
Save the Date! We are having a Lowell Take Over Night at the Grand Rapids Gold basketball game on November 18th! Scroll down for more information or click here!
The Lowell High School Theater Department is looking for kindergarten and first grade students to be part of their production! Here is a link with more information!
Many classrooms and teachers will be receiving new materials, thanks to grants from the Lowell Education Foundation. LEF’s mission is to support innovative teaching and curriculum enhancement in Lowell Area Schools. Teachers have an opportunity to apply for funds for special projects. This year, the Education Foundation was able to award 34 grants amounting to over $47,000!!! Our Reading Intervention program was awarded multisensory teaching materials, our kindergarten team received manipulatives to use during phonics instruction, and many other grants awarded all over the district! We are so grateful for the support from the LEF Foundation.
Have a great weekend everyone!
