Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Families:
What an experience Fall 2020 has been!
During these first 8 weeks we have been working hard on SO many musical things...The students have been introduced to music theory concepts using our online Breezin' Thru Theory curriculum, sight reading skills using our online Sight-reading factory program, and general musical and theoretical concepts to become better and more rounded musicians. The students have also been submitting weekly practice recordings for evaluation and feedback purposes.
We have worked hard to build our FHS Choir Community. We hosted a virtual game night and had an awesome time! Treble Choir has established their "family" groupings and met in breakout rooms to connect. We have also had some fun themed rehearsals which is always awesome to see! This FHS Choir community is a special place to be and we are so glad you are a part of it.
Even though things look and feel different, I am so very proud of these students and ALL of their hard work! They started this year off with so many unknowns and have stayed focused on their love for singing and making music.
Below is our fall 2020 "concert" demonstration of what we have been working on this fall. The students have prepared both individually (practicing with practice tracks), and in live rehearsals and sectionals. Our senior soloists are so happy to showcase their talent and hard work. The ensemble performances you will hear have been created by each student submitting an individual track of themselves singing and then layering each track to make the choral sound. FYI in order to comply with our copyright permissions this virtual concert will only be available for 1 month on YouTube.. so enjoy soon:)
I would like to send out a huge congratulations to the students who choose to spend extra time and rehearsals preparing for the ILMEA District 1 ensemble auditions:
Jason G, Aiden T, Joan H, Evelyn P, Abby N, Lauren K, Karissa L, Kamil W, Bart S, Alexa M and Abby H.
We would also like to thank our accompanist Mr. Dan Chase for continuing to rehearse with us remotely, and providing hours of support via accompaniment and practice tracks. We are also very thankful for our administration, division leader (Mr. Koranda), Ms. Bohnen, Dan Chase, Chelsea Londos and the FHS school board for supporting the choral program through all of this uncertainty.
If you haven't yet.. I encourage you to “get connected” in order to get electronic updates for each class/ensemble. As always I am just an email or office hour away if you have any questions or concerns.
