Crust
This layer of the Earth is the part that we live on. This layer is very thin compared to the other layers. This layer is 3-5 miles and is very thin compared to the others. the temperatures of the crust vary from air temperature to 1600 degrees Fahrenheit. The crust is broken into many pieces called plates. In some reasearch done it says that the plates "float" on the mantle located right under the crust.
Mantle
The Mantle is the largest layer of the earth. The mantle is under the sima. This layer is 1800 miles thick. The mantle is a very hot and dense rock. The temperatures vary from top to bottom of the mantle. The temperatures vary from 1600 to 4000 degrees. The Mantle is the reason the plates of the earth move.
Outer and Inner core
Outer Core- Is a layer of Hot and thick metals. The outer core is 1800 miles beneath the crust. This Layer is 1400 miles thick. This layer is melted with Metals , Nickel and Iron
Inner core- The inner core has very great temperatures that the metals cannot move like a liquid. These are forced to vibrate in place as a solid. This layer is 4,000 miles beneath the crust and the layer is 800 miles thick. Temperatures may reach up to 9000 degrees.
