Battles of Lexington and Concord
April 19, 1775
The Battle Begins
On April 19, 1775 the tensions have been growing for many years between the people in the 13 colonies and the British army, especially in Massachusetts. The night of April 18, 1775 hundreds of British soldiers marched to Concord searching for weapons to take for the British army. The British where not careful. Paul Revere and other riders went of and warned the colonists, "The British are coming!"
Deaths
The American soldiers had 49 dead, and 39 wounded.
For the British soldiers 73 of their soldiers died, and 174 were wounded. There was a slight problem, 26 were of the British soldiers were pronounced missing.
Total number of soldiers
There were 700 British soldiers that marched into Lexington and concord. The number of American Minute men was no number of Minute men documented.
The End battle
The British realized that they would lose so they retreated. On their way back to Boston the Colonists (Otherwise known at Militias) attacked the British retreating. In the end the Militias won the battles of Lexington and Concord. They proved that they could defeat one of the strongest armies.
