George School's Family Update

November 22, 2017

Thank you Jessie F. George School Families!

This week the Jessie F. George School families showed their character! The outpouring of generosity for our Turkey Drive, Toys for Children at Hackensack Hospital and Candy for Operation Gratitude was overwhelming. I am proud to be part of this community and thankful to call Jessie George School my new home and share details about all the positive events of this week. As we embark on the season of thanks, I wish all of you a very peaceful and restful Holiday!

Turkey and Food Drive

On November 20th the George School families donated 45 frozen turkeys (and 1 ham) , and over 30 full bags of Food for the Center for Hope and Safety (formerly Shelter Our Sisters). Again, thank you for thinking of those in need. (Special Thanks to Mrs. Barrese for organizing this event!)

Operation Gratitude!

This year the Jessie F. George community collected items to be sent to our military personnel overseas by Operation Gratitude. A whopping 204 pounds of candy were collected; along with toothbrushes, toothpaste and letters for our troops. Especially during this season of thankfulness it was great to see so many students and families participate in this drive. As we recognize and celebrate Citizenship as our Kind Cardinal trait this month collecting for our troops was even more special. Thank you to all who donated. Happy Thanksgiving! (Special Thanks to Mrs. Farinella for Organizing this event.)

Tomorrow's Children Fund at Hackensack Hospital

Today, November 22, two car loads of new toys were donated and delivered to the Hackensack Children's Hospital for the Tomorrow's Children Fund. Our Fifth Grade Peer Pals helped collect and load the car in time for the toys to be ready for the holiday season. (Thank you Mrs. Hammer and Mrs. Guyt, our school counselor, for organizing this worthy event.) Again I am moved by the generosity of the children and their families.
