Invent Learning Hub News - March
Opening July 24!!
Mission: ILH uses personalized learning and design thinking experiences to grow collaborative, entrepreneurial problem-solvers who leave ILH with an individualized post-secondary success plan.
Work will begin mid-April on our building on Pleasant Run South! We are so excited to bring this building back and be a hub within the Southeast community! Stay tuned!
Important Updates
- Were you eager to send your 6-8 grade student to ILH? Although we are not offering those grades next year, we will have 6-8 in the building because Paramount School of Excellence's new middle school will be operating out of the 2nd floor of our building. If you need a connection to one of their school leaders, call us at 317-503-0265 and we are happy to answer questions and connect you to their staff.
- May 18 and June 19 will be project days at the school. Let us know if you want to help out!
- We will close on the building soon and four months of construction is planned to start immediately.
Welcome to our new Director of Special Programs, Penny Inskeep!
Design Thinking at ILH
With a curriculum as new and innovative as Design Thinking, Invent Learning Hub wanted to make sure that our teachers were receiving training that was high impact, applicable, and relevant. We found that with a fellow educator we've been working with over the last year. David Lee (www.davidleetech.com) is a leading educator in the field of Design Thinking. His book, Design Thinking in the Classroom, is a practical guide to utilizing the Design Thinking framework in a school. His experience actually teaching Design Thinking in International Schools across the globe solidified our decision to work with him. He will be leading DT training with our teachers in July and will consult with our curriculum design as the year progresses. Check out the exciting work he has done with his own students on his website, and get ready to see the life-changing work we do with our students with his help.
We Need Your Help!
In our effort to provide our students with real world applications for the content and skills they’re learning, as well as expose each student to the plethora of careers that are available to them, we are beginning to building partnerships with local businesses and industry experts just like you! Through our Design Thinking course and Pathways program, we are looking for brave souls to share with our students the careers they work in, the paths they took to get there, and the skills that make them successful in their specific profession. If you are extremely passionate about this mission of career exposure, we would also love to visit several businesses to show our students what a day looks like for a career professional!
We are looking for volunteers in all career fields, so if you or someone you know is interested in volunteering your time, we would love to have you. Please click here to view more about the partnerships we are developing and how you can help. If you have a great idea, or someone we should connect with, please reach out to our Director of Academics, Gabriel Surface at gsurface@inventlearning.org or 812-344-8874.
