Zones of Regulation Update: What’s NEXT??
Our students are doing a great job of remembering to use the Zones of Regulation to express their feelings. For example,“I am in the Yellow ZONE because she is bothering me while I’m trying to work.” The next time your child shares his/her ZONE with you, ask if he/she needs to use a strategy to self-regulate. Students have been learning about self-regulation tools at school-- so, be sure to ask your child to share his/her favorites! Tools may include: getting a drink of water, coloring, going for a walk, listening to music, or taking deep breaths.
Here’s a fun one to try next time at home: starfish breathing. Hold up one hand and trace each finger with the pointer finger on your other hand. Each time you trace up, breathe in and each time you trace down, breathe out.
Thank you so much!
Star Volunteer Registration at The Willow
If you registered to volunteer at the Boosterthon, be sure to look for your email from Castlebranch to complete your background check.
We are hoping to be able to have more volunteers beginning in January. School volunteers who wish to continue to volunteer in 2021-22 should go to any WCPSS school or work site and register through wcpss.net by selecting the Community tab, and then selecting Volunteer. Individuals previously approved to volunteer must reactivate by 4 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2021.
Why should you register now?
If you are interested in volunteering in the Classrooms next semester, or on Field Day, or assisting the PTA, then this is your opportunity to get a head start for when opportunities to come back inside our school buildings are permitted. There is a follow-up email to you from Castlebranch to complete your background check, and this process takes some time.
How do you do that?
You can self-register using your phone. Just stop by Willow Springs ES daily from 8:30-4:00 at the front entrance. There will be a REGISTRATION station at the outside bench with instructions for you to begin the process. It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
Waiting in Car-Line?
Use the WCPSSGUEST wi-fi to register from your car! Once you open the browser, go to wcpss.net then select Community then select Volunteer to begin the registration process!
