We picked out a few unplugged (or offline) and online activities we really like for PreK - 2 grade students and shared them below. You can also use BeeBots, OzoBots, or Osmo if you already have them in your classroom or school.
Unplugged Activities
Little Artist Inside Your ComputerUnplugged Activity Did you know that there's a little artist who lives inside every computer? This PDF contains a fun story embedded with puzzles that will teach your students the fundamentals of digital art as they make their own creations using pixels, algorithms and repeat loops. | If Flash, Then ClapUnplugged Activity Flash! Clap! This hands-on, wild weather lesson teaches conditional statements with lightning and thunder. Students will learn about why thunder always follows lightning and will examine the logic statement "if there is lightning, then thunder will follow." Unplugged Activity
Flash! Clap! This hands-on, wild weather lesson teaches conditional statements with lightning and thunder. Students will learn about why thunder always follows lightning and will examine the logic statement "if there is lightning, then thunder will follow." Count the seconds between the two to see how far away the storm is!

Unplugged Activity
Loops are a handy way of describing actions that repeat a certain numbers of times. In this lesson, students will practice converting sets of actions into a single loop by dancing.

You'll make different items show up or disappear depending on where Peep is walking. Beyond an Hour of Code - Save the Date!
Save the date for our Computer Science Workshop February 12, 2019 from 8:30 - 11:30a at our 6th Street building in Cedar Rapids. We'll learn more about Iowa's Computer Science standards, share strategies for incorporating computer science and coding into core subjects and plan for next steps in your classroom and building.
