Ludwig Ledger
April 2023
Dear Ludwig Families,
I hope everyone had a chance to relax and unwind over spring break. It is hard to believe how quickly this year has flown by and that there are only 2 months of school left! We have a lot of things to look forward to and a lot of fun events on the calendar in the months of April and May. As always, we're looking forward to partnering with you to ensure your child has a successful finish to the school year! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or Ludwig's main office. That said, please take a quick read through the information below, which highlights our IAR and ISA testing that will take place in April along with some of the events that have taken place at Ludwig during the last month.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kulik
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (4th & 5th Gr.)
Parents often ask, "How can I help my child do their very best on the test?" Here's how you can help:
- Ensure that your child brings their fully charged iPad and wired headphones to school each day, along with a pencil and a good book to read.
- Make sure your child gets a full night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before coming to school.
- Remind your child to use and apply all the test taking tips and strategies that his/her teacher has taught them during the school year.
- Show your child that you believe in them, and pump them up to have confidence in themselves and their abilities.
- Lastly, encourage them to simply give their very best effort and not stress about the test.
Ludwig School will offer all students a snack (granola bar) on each testing day, and mints will be made available for students to help them stay focused on their testing sessions. Should a student be absent due to illness, makeup IAR testing sessions will take place during the week of April 17th. We look forward to seeing our scholars showcase what they know, and we're confident they're up for the challenge!
Illinois Science Assessment (5th Gr. Only)
Ludwig's 5th grade scholars will take the Illinois Science Assessment on April 24th, 25th, and 26th. This, also, is a web-based assessment that consists of 3 testing sessions, one per day. The ISA is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Science and the Next Generation Science Standards and it helps educators determine students' preparedness for college and career readiness, specifically within the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) field.
We encourage our 5th grade parents to support their child(ren) in the same manner that was recommended for IAR testing. Again, we look forward to our 5th grade students demonstrating and showcasing what they know in the area of science!
