Breakfast & Lunch Served at BCSD!
Our cafeteria staff have been hard at work! Not only are they preparing food, they are delivering as well with our Transportation Department. 1,200 breakfasts and 1, 200 lunches are being prepared and delivered each and every day for our students. Our vans and buses deliver throughout 7 zones and 6 community centers within the district. Once the lunches are packed, they are placed in coolers and ready for delivery to each area. As you can see by the pictures above and below, students are thankful for these hard workers!
A little thanks...
from a dear second grader!

Read Alouds with Ms. Banker ~
Ms. Banker continues her Read Alouds with thanks to the many publishers who have relaxed their copyright rules. She has created a digital choice board with options from hands-on making to reading for students in grades 3 & 4. 5th grade is finishing a poster about a favorite book. All classes are in the Google classroom.
Finally, the BES Reading Links classroom has lots of options for finding books! For example, you can find e-books to borrow, audio books and YouTube book channels. That classroom is open to all students, parents and teachers and is being updated with the resources companies continue to release.
STEM Live and the Cincinnati Zoo!
In Technology, we are doing a STEM Live Google Meet each week for all grades where students present their STEM projects and then have an open question forum. 2nd grade is working on their typing program, "Typing Without Tears." The upper primary are working on spring poetry using Google Draw and lower primary are working on ELA and math activities.
Next week, all grades will be learning about the Two Toed Sloth and visiting with Mo the Sloth at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden through their Home Safari Live Program. Cincinnati Zoo, offers a daily Facebook Live where viewers can ask questions in real time - I highly suggest parents check it out! If you don’t have Facebook, watch the Live afterwards on their website under the “Resources” tab.
Mrs. Drasyes Class: Can Earn Drasye Dollars!!!
Mrs. Hewson has started a system for students to earn some bucks while doing math facts and online activities with me. Drasye Dollars can be used to purchase prizes once students return to school. This system is very similar to our current "Talon Ticket" system.
Music with Ms. Wilson ~
My little ones are singing and moving with music. Using Screencastify for videos and Meets for live class. Working on finding a better solution to playing them music than my really really really old stereo...I post the videos as assignments so that I know who has done it (as long as their adult turns it in).
2nd through 4th grades are currently working on critical listening skills with Ed-puzzles. This is heading into Peter and the Wolf for students in 2nd and 3rd grade.
5th graders are working on body percussion and improvised instruments through digital learning.
Band students are working on a Flipgrid for their 5 note scale, and some are working on lessons, and Chorus students are working on music for the Spring Concert with practice tracks I posted in the Chorus Classroom.
Who said you can't do PE classes online?
From Coach Carter:
I am currently providing the students with 4-8 HIIT workout videos to complete each week. Each video is around 4-5 minutes long. Once they complete 4 workout videos they then answer 3 questions asking what their favorite exercise was, what video was most tiring, and to name one exercise that was similar to an exercise from PE with Coach Carter at school. This is for grades 1st-5th, the PK and Kindergarten classes are receiving Go Noodle exercise videos and are being asked to complete 2 videos a week and provide me with the names of the videos they completed, and to provide me with other types of physical activities they have done throughout the week.
From Mrs. Trudeau:
My PE students have been doing their exercises at home using different videos as a guide. I encourage all students to do the videos I've posted and add any other activities that they enjoy and are able to do at home. Exercise will make them feel great!
Weekly Online Concerts with Dave Ruch
Mr. Ruch has announced free online concerts for students while they are away from school. Each Wednesday at noon, Mr. Ruch will present his interactive online programs. STEM with Ms. Woodward ~
Today, Carson LaDue is live with his teacher, Miss Woodward creating a Ninjago LEGO character. During this meet, students presented LEGO projects, wood whittling, geodes, prisms & light, and terrariums. Carson built his robot throughout the duration of the meet to show how quickly he can build. He also praised other students and asked questions about their projects while building. Carson is a great active participant!
