Battle of the Alamo
Purpose of the Battle of the Alamo.
The battle of the Alamo was a fight for Independence from Mexico. The battle of the Alamo was created because Sam Houston did not have enough troops , and because of that he was not ready to fight Santa Anna. So Sam Houston put people in the Alamo so they could fight Santa Anna, while Sam Houston was getting more troops back in the U.S.
David Crocket is a very Important person in the Alamo. He was a frontiersman, a Ledgendary folk person and a three time congressman. He was in the war of 1812. He was alive through 1786-1836.

Susanna Wilkerson Dickinson was born in Tennesee in the year of 1814. The Texas revoulotion began in 1814 also in that year she gave birth to a baby girl in that year. Susanna's husband died when the baby was 2 years old.
Importance to Texas Independence?
It was a setback for Texas Independence and a big win for Santa Anna's army.

The famous monument is called the "The Alamo". That is were the battle took place. It is now open to the public, and inside gives you facts about the battle and the people in it. The Alamo is in San Antonio.
