December Edition
A note from Associate Principal, Mrs. Pethtel
Hello SSAE families,
The holiday season is upon us, with no sign of snow quite yet! We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving break and that students are ready to put everything they have into completing the 1st semester successfully. Our staff and student council surprised the middle and high school students this week with what we call an Amnesty Day, in which students were given the opportunity to check in with their teachers and were given small goals and time to work on missing schoolwork while in the building. Students were rewarded for being on target in their classes as well as working hard during the day. Students earned prizes and an opportunity to attend a movie in the afternoon if they were on track and passing their classes. It was such a fun time to celebrate the hard work our students have put in this semester! There is still work to be done, and the deadline for all middle and high school work needs to be completed and turned in by December 17th at 8:00 am. All classes are scheduled to be completed by December 10th. Students who have completed and passed their courses will not attend school the week of December 13th. Students who are not passing will be required to attend school for support with their teachers during the week of December 13th-16th. There will not be any school for students on December 17th. Please see the attached letter about the end of the first semester for more details. Please reach out to your student’s teachers for questions or how to support your child’s success for the end of this first semester. We are very proud of our students and their academic success this semester! We hope your families have a wonderful break and enjoy the holidays!
Thank you for your continued support,
Amanda Pethtel

Snow Day/2-hour Delay Information
Campus Families,
Good Morning. I wasn't sure when or if we would need to send out this email because Colorado weather has been so mild this year. Due to some changes at the district level, we have refined our campus's Inclement Weather Policies. The policy is updated for both SSAE and PPEC and is located on each school's website. I have included links for families to review and bookmark if we shift in our weather patterns and start acting more like Colorado weather.
Additionally, as colder weather approaches, be aware that the earliest we will guarantee a licensed staff will be on campus is 7:15 am. Please know that we never leave students out in the cold, but occasionally we have off-campus meetings, and there may not be someone on campus until 7:15. I am an early riser, so it is rarely an issue. We usually have licensed staff on campus before 7:15 am. Our custodians and hourly employees, such as secretarial, health care, and support coaches, cannot supervise students without licensed staff on campus. Thank you for understanding and being proactive to ensure that all students are safe every morning. As always, please let us know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful day.
