Gr. 3 and 4 Recognition Party Today

We are so proud of the effort and stamina that was shown by our 3rd and 4th graders over the past few weeks during state testing. In celebration, we held a surprise social for them this afternoon. We began with frozen fruit popsicles and shared why we are proud of our students. We then asked if they wanted another surprise. You can imagine the excitement when they walked into the gym and heard our guest DJ, Chariho HS Senior Connor Kuba, playing their favorite (and school appropriate) songs. They danced for over and hour and then requested a dance off. Their moves in the 3rd grade vs. 4th grade competition were very impressive! They are probably quite tired and sweaty. Many commented that this was the best day of the year!!!

Narragansett Storytelling in Grade 1

Thank you to Mr. Harris for coming today to share Narragansett traditional stories, songs and dances. We learned so much on National Indian Recognition Day. Students loved the stories about our earth, music and dancing out on the lower field!

Crystal Apple Award - Seeking parents for Nomination Committee

Thank you for all of the written nominations for the Horace Mann Crystal Apple Award. I'm now looking to form a committee of parents who have 4th graders only. Please contact me if you are interested in reviewing the nominations with other parents during a meeting to be held soon. I can only include parents who did not submit a nomination.

5K Walk/Run at Ninigret Park - Saturday, May 28th

Dr. Moffitt and members of the PTO are holding the annual 5K walk/run on Saturday, May 28th. This a wonderful family fitness event.

We are looking for more parents to help at the 4th grade picnic

We have two 4th grade parents who have volunteered to assist with the picnic. Please contact Mrs. Poore if you are interested in volunteering to cook hamburgers and hot dogs at the 4th Grade Picnic on Tuesday, June 14th. We are also looking for a parent who can bring and use a grill.

Kindergarten Registation

If you still need to register your child, please call Norma or Carrie at 364-7716.

Please forward this to friends who have an incoming K student.

Caterpillars on Playground

We are seeing small caterpillars on the lower field during PE and recess. We have reminded students that these creatures are part of nature. Parents can put insect repellant on their child prior to school. Sunscreen is also optional and should be applied at home prior to school.

Outdoor Classroom Space

The PTO was granted permission to proceed with their plans for outdoor teaching spaces. Thank you to Karen Bellnier for chairing this committee. The space has been leveled and new fencing will be installed soon.

The next meeting will take place onsite on Saturday, May 14th at 10:30 am.

Yearbook photos needed

If you have have taken photos this year while attending a school or PTO sponsored event, please consider sending them to this designated email address. We are also in need of photos of current 4th graders since they started here in Kindergarten.

Thank you to Erin Manni for donating her time and energy to create our school yearbook.

Thank you to Mrs. Crawford for helping to beautify our school!
