Stephens Spotlight

This week's spotlight is Christi Spindle. Christi is one of our PreK teachers at Stephens. You might have seen her out at arrival in the morning with one of her therapy dogs. Honeybelle and Prancer frequently make visits to Ms. Spindle's classroom where it's not uncommon to see staff members stopping by for their own pet therapy session!

She pours into her students something fierce and is ALWAYS willing to step in and help anywhere she is needed. She has a gift of making students feel loved while holding them to high expectations. She truly wants all kids to reach their highest potential.

If you have or have had a student in Ms. Spindle's class, take a moment to drop her a note to let her know how much you appreciate her! (cspindle@dentonisd.org).

Summer Opportunity- Camp Invention

Camp Invention is returning to Denton ISD this summer for children entering 1st through 6th grade! This inspiring, weeklong summer experience provides opportunities for open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Taking on a variety of exhilarating activities each day, children have fun collaborating with friends, thinking creatively and inventing their own solutions to real-world challenges.

Program dates are June 5-9, 2023 from 8:30am - 3:30pm at Alexander Elementary School in Denton ISD.

This year's program, Wonder, is an action-packed and confidence-boosting program where young innovators will:

  • Design and build their own mini skate park, customize their mini skateboard, and practice persistence as they take on ramps, bowls, rails and more
  • Transform a robot into a one-of-a-kind stuffie while exploring genetics, finding inspiration in nature and taking pride in their individuality
  • Take on the role of event planner as they design a grand celebration, invent a Party Assistant, and create a light-up party hat and bubble art banner
  • Launch their own pop-up business while building entrepreneurship skills, making smart financial choices, using green energy and attracting customers

Registration is currently $25 off with code 'SUM25' until March 30. Register before 3/30 to lock-in the discount!

Stephens Elementary

  • Opened in 2008, our school is named after Olive Stephens, who served the town of Shady Shores as mayor for nearly four decades. We believe that ensuring high levels of success for all students requires a collaborative effort between staff, parents, students, and community members. We are thankful for the continued support of all of our stakeholders as we "build a community of learners for life!"
