OLVCS Updates
Led By the Spirit...........................February 6, 2020
Good afternoon,
As you know, next week grades 2 - 8 will take the IOWA assessment. This national assessment is the diocesan choice as a measure of the schools, and has several purposes. It is a piece that can help identify potential needs of students. It also gives us a picture of where our school stands among those that take the assessment. Finally, it is a measure that the teachers use to check progress of their class.
Testing begins Monday, and goes through February 14th. You child's teacher will email with class specifics. Some grades may continue to test the week of February 17th.
Please make sure your child receives plenty of rest, has a nutritious breakfast and arrives to school on time. If possible please limit the number of appointments that will take you child out of school to limit the number of test makeups.

Thank You To All Who Helped Organize The John Graham Show!!
Thank you, thank you to all who helped out with the John Graham show! It was a great success, raising over $3400 for the Our Lady Fund, which helps support our school families. Special thanks are given to Kristen Koshko and Cindy Kolarik, without whom this event would have “just disappeared before my very eyes.”
Book Fair.... Record Breaking Year!
"This was a record-breaking year for the Book Fair! Even without Family Fun Night on Friday, your children showed tremendous support, and we had our best year yet.
Teachers have already received nearly $900 worth of books for their classrooms with rewards dollars from the $3300 that we earned.
The children showed tremendous kindness and generosity as they shared their money with other students who had none. They purchased items for brothers and sisters over themselves many times. They donated extra change to the basket I keep aside for those who don't have quite enough when they are checking out. Students often chose to purchase something for their teachers, and they used practical life skills when making decisions regarding what to purchase based on cost or practicality.
It was an astounding week, and I am so impressed with all that I observed. Thank you for supporting our Scholastic Book Fair and for allowing your children to participate."
