2016 Graduation Ceremony Happening Tomorrow
As we wrap up the 2015-16 school year at West Shore Christian Academy we are thankful for the more than 400 students God called here this year. These last nine months have been filled with new friendships, remarkable achievements, trips, championships, successes (and lessons learned), and most importantly spiritual growth. What a joy it has been to see our students mature in their faith and begin to discern God's calling on their life.
Tomorrow, thirty-three graduates will close out the year as they receive their diplomas at the West Shore Christian Academy 2016 Commencement Service. We are blessed to have Dr. Kimberly Thornbury from The King's College as our speaker for the event.
Dr. Kimberly Thornbury serves as vice president at The King’s College in New York City. She has served for over twenty years in Christian higher education and writes and speaks nationally about college student success. Her most recent work includes a chapter in the book Making a Difference: Empowering the Resident Assistant. Prior to her move to New York City, she served as senior vice president for Student Services and dean of students for fifteen years at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.
Dr. Thornbury graduated from Messiah College, and holds an MA in Higher Ed Administration from the University of Louisville and a Ph.D. in Higher Ed Administration from Regent University. She serves on several boards including the local unexpected pregnancy center in NYC and Messiah College. Dr. Thornbury's husband, Gregory Thornbury, is the president of The King’s College, and they live on the upper west side of Manhattan with their two teenage daughters.
All West Shore Christian Academy families are invited to attend commencement services, which will be held in the sanctuary at 10 am tomorrow, June 4, 2016.
