Dave Goodrich - Whitehall

Hello, my name is Dave Goodrich and I have just completed my twenty-seventh year of teaching at Whitehall. Besides teaching secondary Physical Education, I have also coached numerous sports including football, track, softball, bowling, and baseball

I teach two Physical Education courses, two Health courses, one Advance Fitness course, and one Sport Discovery Class. My Physical Education course is a blend of Fitness (weight training, HITT, Outdoor activities of biking, longboard, rollerblade) and Lifetime Games : Badminton -Bocce -Pickleball -Shuffleboard -Ladder Toss Washer Toss- Horseshoes- Corn Hole.

Sport Discovery is designed to help student-athletes apply practical and theoretical information to the psychology of sport. Various mental skills are introduced and practiced in order to enhance the athlete’s performance. Concepts explored include, but are not limited to, stress, motivation, pressure, goal-setting, imagery, and leadership.

I have three children Katelyn 21, who attends Central Michigan University and is pursuing a Secondary Education degree; Matthew 18, who is attending Western Michigan University and is pursuing a Aviation Degree, and Ryan, 14 who is a freshman this year pursuing life! Carrie is my wife and is a guidance counselor and also has completed her twenty-seventh year at Whitehall

The following link is a letter from the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) with a response to the question of whether or not related services, such as physical therapy or occupational therapy, are able to replace or substitute the Adapted Physical Education requirements. The question was directed to the Director of the OSEP in the U.S. Department of Education.
