North Olmsted City Schools
April 5, 2021
Dear North Olmsted Families,
It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you that I have decided to retire effective July 31, 2021. I have had the great privilege to have worked as a public educator for the past 33 years in a number of different positions and school districts. However, I have decided that it is time for me to step aside and pass the baton to the next district leader.
It has been my pleasure to have served as your superintendent for the past 8 years here in North Olmsted. I have been honored to work alongside so many talented teachers, administrators, and support staff while developing relationships throughout our community. Together we have continued the long history of providing a high quality educational experience for our students and positioned the district for future success. I appreciate all of the support and loyalty I have received through the years.
The Board of Education officially acted on my decision to retire at the special meeting held last Thursday. They have already begun working with the Ohio School Board Association to begin the process of searching for a new superintendent. More details about the search process will be posted on the district website. I am confident the Board of Education will attract an excellent pool of candidates and select a leader who will continue the long tradition of excellence in our schools.
I want to thank everyone for all of your help and encouragement over the years. I shall always treasure my time with you here in North Olmsted. Go Eagles!
Sincerely,
Michael E. Zalar Ph.D.
Superintendent
