Math Facts
At this point in the year, we have introduced most of the multiplication and division facts with units of 0-10. We ask that you focus on the relationship between multiplication and division at home by practicing their math facts and fact families.
Reading
Please continue to encourage your child to read at home each night. Reading for around 20 minutes a night is very valuable for each child. It can also be a great discussion piece to talk about what they have read and what they would be interested in reading.
π Homework Reminder
Please continue to check student assignment notebooks and home folders daily. Student math and reading homework are given daily.
π Curriculum Corner
Math βοΈβ
Students will be using their prior knowledge of multiplication and division to learn some new facts! They will be working on learning facts with units of 0, 1, 6-9, and Multiples of 10.
Reading π
In Reading, students will explore the essential question: What is a community? We will learn about communities now and in the past using both fiction and nonfiction texts.
Some of the skills we will focus on during this unit are identifying key details and main idea; distinguishing readerβs point of view; explaining how character's actions contribute to events.
Writing βοΈ
Using lessons from the Benchmark Curriculum, students will continue to work on writing in response to reading using both fiction and nonfiction texts. We will be gathering research and using it to write informational texts on specific communities.
Social Studies π
Students are continuing to focus on learning about Geography before transitioning to Science.
Science π§οΈ
Students are going to learn about earth sciences this quarter. Students will begin with learning about types of clouds and the water cycle.
