PTA - a TRUE partneship
We want to thank them for the countless hours of support they give. They work diligently to gain membership, build community awareness of projects which support our campus and volunteer their time in planning and stepping in to fill important needs. Just this year they are investing a great amount of time to find community partnerships to help us reach our goals in our outdoor learning spaces and our newly designed makerspace. Both areas will benefit our students greatly!
We hope you will consider joining our PTA- it is open to anyone - parents, neighbors, community member or those who wish to partners, etc. If you wish to join our PTA for $10 visit their PTA website @ https://www.prestwickpta.org/ or PTA facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/PrestwickSTEMPTA/
Staff Spotlight
This week our spotlight is on Mrs. Brown, who is currently teaching English Language Arts to our awesome 6th graders. 6th grade is a year of transition for students as they go from elementary to secondary and it takes a special person to help them navigate their way through this time. We are glad that Mrs. Brown is one of those special people. Here is what she has to share about herself.
“I am married to my wonderful husband, Earl IV, and we have two amazing boys - Earl V, 11, and Eagan, 9. I also have one cat, an orange tabby named Haggis, who loves to snuggle, hunt moving legs, and chase sunbeams. I enjoy spending quality time with my family, reading a good book, watching HGTV, and organizing. I am addicted to coffee, particularly Starbucks, and enjoy a good hot chocolate year-round as well. I love to travel with my family and see new sights - near or far. My husband and I are looking forward to visiting Prague, Budapest, and Vienna this summer to celebrate 16 years of marriage. A fun fact: I used to be a professional organizer in the summers between school years before children came along. It is a stress reliever for me to have everything in order! I am proud to call myself a Lobo and enjoy teaching at Prestwick.”

180 Degree Program for 8th Graders
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On December 13th & 14th we will have a guest speaker from the 180 Degrees Program come to speak to the 8th graders at Prestwick STEM Academy. The presenter will discuss how to set boundaries, how to develop healthy relationships, the importance of abstinence until marriage, current Sexually Transmitted Disease/Sexually Transmitted Infection statistics, teen pregnancy rates, abusive relationships, and how past negative choices don’t have to define the future. There is a parent program at Prestwick STEM Academy on December 4th at 6:30pm to give you more information or you can view the 180 Degrees website www.my180degrees.org.
If you DO NOT allow your child to hear this presentation, then please download the form below and return it by Monday, December 10th. This program is geared toward 8th grade students and will be very beneficial. If you have any concerns, please call Toni Nelson at 972-947-9443 ext. 20023 or a member of our administration team at 972-947-9450. Thank you.
