ACP MIDDLE SCHOOL - September 15th, 2023
*DEDICATION*GROWTH*COMMUNITY*
Message from the Principal
Dear Knights,
We are less two weeks away from the end of Quarter 1. Make sure that you are communicating with your teachers and putting forth the effort needed in each class. Take a accounting of your habits from the 1st quarter and assess what needs to change for you to improve upon your performance. Key to success starts with communication and follow through so if you commit to attending tutoring or making up assignment, follow through with it. In class, stay focused and engage with the lesson and of course complete your practice assignments.
Parents
- Please donate to our Booster Club. If every family is able to donate $53, they will easily meet their goal of $40,000. They support a lot of programs on campus such as the Field Day. See Booster Club section for more details. The drive will go through the end of Quarter 1.
- You will be receiving emails to activate your ParentSquare accounts beginning 09/18/2023. Please don't ignore these. We will be switching over to ParentSquare as our communication tool beginning 2nd Quarter. Attached below are some flyers.
Thank you,
Manjula K Reddy
Principal

Counseling & Social Work Department Update
General:
- We are excited to announce that all students now have access to counseling support through their Google Classroom. The Counseling and Social Services classroom makes it easy for students to reach out to a social worker/counselor when they need some support. We will also be adding academic and mental health resources throughout the year to help all students be successful at ACP!
- We are here to support all ACP students! We can provide check-ins, general problem solving in the areas of academics, social emotional learning, and mental health/self-care, small group support, academic advisement, and connecting you to resources in the community. Please let us know how we can best support your student. Thank you!

Wellness Newsletter:
- The Counseling and Social Services department has a monthly wellness newsletter for caregivers and families called Medieval Monthly. The newsletter will provide ideas, tips, tricks, and resources on how to best support your ACP Middle School student. You can find ACP’s most current Medieval Monthly by visiting the ACP Middle School website and looking under “Our Staff” and “Counseling and Social Services.”
Needs Assessment:
- As a requirement for the grant that supports several of our district counselors and social workers, a student wellness survey must be given to students. The information compiled from this survey allows for our school to identify further supports that should be provided. The survey will be given to students on September 5th, 2023 during your student’s Academic Lab class. A permission slip and copy of the survey will be sent home this week. Please sign the permission slip and return it to your student’s Academic Lab teacher by September 1st, 2023.
Signs of Suicide (SOS):
- The Counseling department will be going into 7th grade classes the week of September 4th to provide suicide prevention education using the district approved curriculum, Signs of Suicide (SOS). SOS is an evidence-based program that has demonstrated an improvement in students’ knowledge and adaptive attitudes about suicide risk and depression, as well as a reduction in suicide attempts. SOS encourages students to seek help if they are concerned about themselves or a friend. We encourage you to visit www.sossignsofsuicide.org/parent for information on warning signs for youth suicide, to access useful resources, and to learn more about the key message all students will learn in class.

PLEASE MAKE A TAX CREDIT DONATION TO ACP MIDDLE SCHOOL
Arizona tax law allows individual taxpayers to claim a nonrefundable tax credit for making contributions or paying fees directly to a public school in AZ for support of eligible activities and programs.
At the junior high level, the school office is unable to reallocate / redirect funds without parent and district approval. Be sure to select the specific fee for the activity where you want your payment applied. Sports fees are assigned quarterly and club fees are assigned once established.
When paying fees online (band/ orchestra, club or athletics fees, etc.), please consider making an additional contribution to our general fund in December to reach the maximum credit allowable.
http://az01001175.schoolwires.net/page/1131
Once you have paid all outstanding fees for ACP Middle School or if you have a family member that resides in AZ, please consider making an additional tax credit contribution to ACP's general fund before December 31st. If you are able to make your tax contributions prior to the end of the calendar year, your donation would be greatly appreciated. It will help give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50,000.00 this school year and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and ACP Middle School!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
