LAF Book Fair
Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books students want to read right into the school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for your Lafayette students' reading level. Children will go twice to the fair during school hours: once to preview the books and write a wish list and the second time to purchase.
In Person Book Fair dates:
Monday, October 4th - Thursday, October 7th --- 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Wednesday, October 6th will be our Family Night --- 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
We will have a Mexican Spice food truck and Sam the ice cream man at our Family Event!
Please log onto our school’s HOMEPAGE:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/lafayetteelementaryschool14
You may visit our online Book Fair starting September 29th and to set up an eWallet. An eWallet is free and easy to set up as well as a contactless checkout. The balance left in the eWallet at the end of the fair can be used towards future Scholastic Store Online purchases! You can also pay with cash, check or credit card.

School Directory
The school directory has been published and can be found in the Genesis Parent portal under the School Information - School Directory tab. The contact info in the directory has not been published for those who opted out by September 21.
You have the ability at any time to publish or unpublish any of your phone, email, or physical address records in the system by using the "Update Contact Information" button. The changes become live as soon as you save them. The directory can be sorted by homeroom, grade, or last name by using the "Update Display Settings" button. You can search for any student by using the "Search Last Name" box.
After School Clubs
Offered by School District of the Chathams
Please take a moment to review the SDOC After School Enrichments hosted by the LAF teachers. There is no cost associated with these clubs. If there is an overwhelming response to a club, a lottery will be held to determine participants. Registration for all clubs will close on Friday, October 1st at 8:00 a.m.
The Lafayette PTO will also be hosting After School Enrichments. This information will be available in October.
Please click the title of the club you are interested in to register. Registering multiple times will not increase your chances of participating.
Cell Phones, Smart Watches, Digital Readers, etc.
As noted in the Student/Parent Handbook:
All cell phones, smart watches, etc. must be turned off and placed in your child’s backpack when in school. Students may report to the front lobby to make a call from their devices at the end of the day. Texting and talking on the phone while traveling through the hallways is not allowed. Frequent reminders to comply will result in confiscation of the phone. Parents will be contacted. Digital readers are allowed in school as a reading tool not a gaming device The school is not responsible for lost, broken or stolen items.

Issues with Google Classroom Guardian Email Summaries
The District is aware of continuing issues with Google Classroom Guardian Email Summaries that have resulted in guardians being inadvertently removed. Over the summer, Google Classroom made changes to the Guardian Email Summaries syncing process which required a change in our internal process. We have identified a few issues that we are currently rectifying. We hope to have the Guardian Email Summaries up and running within the next week. As a result, you may receive emails from Google Classroom alerting you that you have been removed from the Guardian Email Summaries and then reinvited. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work on this.
