- I am learning to collect, organize, classify, and interpret data with multiple categories and draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent the data.
How will I know I have learned it?
- I will know I have learned it when I can collect and organize data to create a picture graph.
- I will know I have learned it when I can collect and organize data to create a bar graph.
- I will know I have learned it when I can create a scaled picture graph or bar graph with several categories to represent data.
- I will know I have learned it when I can read and interpret scaled picture and bar graphs in order to solve problems.
Reading Focus: Readers understand that details support and explain the central idea or theme.
Learning Goals:
- I am learning to analyze the author's purpose.
- I am learning to analyze the author's perspectives.
- I am learning to identify text structures and how the author uses them to shape content, meaning, and style.
How will I know if I have learned it?
- I will know I have learned it when I can analyze the text I am reading to determine the author's purpose ( persuade, inform, or explain)
Writing Focus: Writers find a topic of interest and develop an opinion or call to action.
Learning Goals:
- I am learning to write an opinion piece that introduces my topic, states my opinion, supply reasons to support my opinion, uses linking words, and closing sentence.
How will I know if I have learned it?
- I will know I’ve learned it when I can write an opinion statement.
- I will know I have learned it when I can support my opinion with reasons.
- I will I know I have learned it when I can use linking words to connect my ideas.
- I will know I have learned it when I can write a closing sentence.
