School Update
Wow! What a month we've had. Thank you to our families. Because of your diligence we've had minimal impact from COVID which resulted in only two classes being quarantined for a period of one week.
We also very much appreciate your work in assessing the health of your children and keeping them out if necessary. We have been averaging approximately 20 students absent each day (Today, 11/20, we have 42 out). We want parents to continue to be proactive but also want to encourage students to be in attendance if they have no symptoms. The high number of absences does make it difficult for our teachers to maintain a solid continuity of curriculum.
As you know, the School Board did approve moving to distance learning (with no students at school) during the one week following Thanksgiving (11/30 - 12/4) and during the one week following the Christmas break (1/5 - 1/8). It is hoped that this extra time will provide additional "recover" time from any illnesses and allow more students to be back in seat on December 7th and then again on January 11th.
During the week of distance learning, our cafeteria will be open during the school day to parents who have limited internet access at home. Parents are welcome to enter through the back door and utilize the school's internet. In addition, we have opened up the NCCS-GUEST wireless network that can be accessed in the parking lot or anywhere on campus. There is no password required.
In previous years our TK-3 grade classes have put on a winter performance in December. For this year, we are postponing this performance and will be putting together a Spring performance.
We want to wish our families a wonderful Thanksgiving break. The link below is to a great article on how to minimize COVID concerns at home during the break.
