Robison Alumni Scholarship~Electronics Day at Robison

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this great cause. Approximately 40 students applied for this scholarship, and our committee had a very difficult time narrowing the applications down to just one. Last year we were able to grant 3 scholarships, for a total of $2,400. This year we are short of this goal; however, we are hoping to recognize two very deserving students. Our last attempt to make this happen will be on Friday, May 18. Students who bring in a donation of $1 will be able to bring their electronics for a 30-minute free time to use their devices. Donations are not limited to $1. All students donating will be asked to sign the yellow banners out front, as we want these students to know that they are supported on their journeys ahead. Thank you for your support!

Technology Festival

Our Robison Rockets did an amazing job representing our school at the district technology festival. Thank you to the teachers and parents who directly supported these students! A big thank you to our technology liaison, Mrs. Moran, for organizing this event for our school.

End of Year Parties

Mark your calendar for our end-of-year parties.

5th Grade

5th-grade students will have their celebration on Friday, May 25. Parents are welcome to attend the walk of honor that will begin at 8:50 am. Parents attending will need to sign in and line the front hallway. The talent show will follow and all parents are welcome to stay. Lunch and outside fun will follow this. Parents who are volunteering are welcome to stay for this event. You may sign up to volunteer by completing the form in the PTO Newsletter (Link at the top of this newsletter).

PPCD, Pre-K, Kindergarten through 4th Grades

End-of-year parties and awards ceremonies will take place on the last day of school, Friday, June 1. Parents are invited to attend the awards ceremonies in the classrooms. The teachers will present students with their awards, and then the students will enjoy a treat to eat in the classroom. The parties will take place during large group (schedule posted below). The parties are for the students and volunteers only. This is a fun time with inflatables and games. Information on how to volunteer and RSVP forms will be coming home soon.

Thank You, Spring Creek!

Our family night at Spring Creek BBQ was a success! This week a representative from Spring Creek presented a check to Robison for $1,500! Our top three homeroom classes with the highest percentage of attendance were: Mrs. Smith (3rd), Mrs. Launikitis (5th), and Mrs. Moreland (5th)! Each student in these homerooms was given a package that included a t-shirt, $10 gift card, a cup, and a pen. Thank you to everyone who made this a special evening, including the amazing staff who served rolls!

Dress Code Reminders

We all know how quickly our children can grow. With the temperatures finally warming up, please check that shorts are the appropriate length (mid-thigh). Our students are sometimes sitting on the floor, and shorts that are too short are not appropriate. We appreciate your attention to this matter.

Vision and Hearing Training

All Robison students participate in state-mandated vision and hearing screenings each year. In order to perform the screening of 1100 students in just one day, we need volunteers to become certified in vision and/or hearing screening. Training is provided at no cost.

A training opportunity is coming up Wednesday, May 23rd at Hamilton Middle School in preparation for the 2018-2019 school year. Training is 3 hours and volunteers can choose vision, hearing or both.

Please contact Joyce Chiasson (281-213-1704 or joyce.chiasson@cfisd.net) if you are interested in participating in the training.

Summer Construction

Robison will be gaining a secured vestibule at the front of our building. Construction will begin immediately after our school year concludes. This will provide a higher level of security to the entrance of our building. Construction will be completed by the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. Check out our Twitter and Facebook pages for updates throughout the summer!

Summer Check-Out & Other Library News

We are excited to offer summer library check-out hours again. With construction taking place this summer, parents and students will need to enter through the doors closest to Skinner Road. Library checkout times will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on the following days:

June 12th

June 26th

July 10th

July 24th

August 7th

Book Fair success! Thank you for attending family night and supporting our book fair! Many students purchased books and were very excited to have their own personal copies.

Please make sure your student/child returns all library books by May 18th. Inventory will take place May 21 and all books need to be accounted for and returned.

Thank you for your support,

Ms. Wolfe
