---INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 16, 2016---

OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR

The Blended Learning Team is a building based group that will help to create professional development opportunities for CHS focusing on blended learning and the 1:1 initiative throughout the school year. Please contact us if you are interested in participating!

The teacher leader positions for the 16-17 school year were recently posted. If you are interested in applying for a teacher leader position, please review the posting (located online and on the bulletin board in the main office) and contact Tony Suozzo by May 19.

ANNUAL EVALUATION INFORMATION

We are in the middle of annual evaluation season. Please click here for important information about the annual process, and click here for updates about the SGO and PDP completion process. In addition, we have provided a list of professional development hours that you have completed this year. If you have any questions, please reach out to the administrator responsible for completing your annual.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PARCC testing resumes this week! Please check the shared folder for important information about proctoring, testing times, and testing locations.

The marking period is already halfway over! Please make sure that your gradebook is up to date, since posting grades is an important way to communicate with students and parents.

Please continue to take attendance in each of your classes in order to maintain accurate records. OnCourse recently released an attendance app that will allow you to take attendance on your phone if you are interested.

On Tuesday, May 31, we will be conducting the Operation Head On assembly for our juniors and seniors. Additional information will be shared in the upcoming weeks.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Our faculty meeting today will be dedicated to learning more about the demographics at CHS, particularly in terms of class placement, extra-curricular involvement, and discipline referrals. The information presented today will serve as a foundation for ongoing discussions about cultural competence.

CONGRATULATIONS TO...

...Shraiy Gupta, who was accepted into the Princeton American Chemical Society (PACS) STEM Outreach program that will take place at Princeton University this August.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

This week's article from the NEA discusses the importance of cultural competence. It is a great starting point for Monday's faculty meeting!

TECH TIP OF THE WEEK

Check out AWW -- a web whiteboard. It is a collaborative online drawing tool that works on any device!

COMMUNICATION

We've gotten a lot of positive feedback from the community about the information we have shared via Twitter. We would like to highlight more of the amazing things you are doing as teachers, coaches, and advisors. If you have something that you would like us to feature via the building twitter account, please let us know!

We would like to create a school-wide hashtag that could be used by student groups, teams, and teachers each time a tweet is created about CHS. Please let us know if you have any suggestions!
