New Food Menu App
The Farmington School District is pleased to announce My School Menus mobile app for parents and students. Available in the iTunes App Store and Google Play. My School Menus allows access to nutrition information for meal programs on any device in the palm of your hands. My School Menus is designed to provide nutrition information for the menu items offered. This app will enable parents, students and teachers to make healthy food choices whenever it’s convenient, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Parents can access this service by going to either the iTunes App Store or Google Play and downloading the app to their device. You can also get the same information by visiting the district website at www.fsdknights.com. There, you can easily print nutrition information and district menus for posting at home. The Food Service Department is excited to offer parents and students this nutrition resource. For further questions regarding My School Menus, contact: Mrs. Erin Crites (573) 701-1300 ext. 2910 ecrites@farmington.k12.mo.us

Attendance Matters At Every Age
According to the US Department of Education, chronic absenteeism is widespread—about one out of every six students missed three or more school weeks in 2015-16. That translates to more than 100 million school days lost. Research suggests the reasons for chronic absenteeism are as varied as the challenges our students and families face—including poor health, limited transportation, and a lack of safety — which can be particularly acute in disadvantaged communities and areas of poverty.
Whatever its causes, chronic absenteeism can be devastating:
- Chronic absenteeism may prevent children from reaching early learning milestones.
- Children who are chronically absent in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade are much less likely to read at grade level by the third grade. Students who cannot read at grade level by the end of third grade are four times more likely than proficient readers to drop out of high school.
If your family is struggling to get your student to school, please reach out to your building principal, social worker or counselor! We want all FSD students to have the best opportunities to learn each day!
