Dad surprises a Belle River 2nd grader

Mrs. Moses 2nd Grade had the pleasure of welcoming home Senior Airmen Colton Barker. He surprised his daughter, Dakota Barker, at school on Thursday, March 16th as he arrived home on leave from South Korea. As the students entered the classroom after lunch recess, Dakota’s dad was sitting in her seat. Needless to say, the students were all excited for their classmate Dakota. Senior Airmen Barker answered lots of questions and the students all enjoyed a welcome home cupcake with Dakota’s family. Senior Airmen Barker is an Operations Manager for the 8th Civil Engineering Squadron for the United States Air Force and is currently stationed in Kunsan AB, South Korea. Thank you for your service Senior Airmen Colton Barker.

Mrs. Cobean was this month's Q-Country 107 Teacher of the Month

Mrs. Cobean was nominated by her student, Ashton Heaton. He told Q-Country, " He loves being in Mrs. Cobean's class because she is so nice. She cares about her students all of the time and checks with them to make sure they are ok." We feel the very same way about Mrs. Cobean, Ashton! Thank you for sharing what an amazing teacher she is with everyone.

4th Grade Field trip

This week our 4th grade visited the Belle River Power Plant. Students viewed a presentation showing how electricity is generated, heard information about the different types of energy and renewable resources, and learned the history of the power plant. They also checked out the control complex inside the plant to see the controls the operators use to run the equipment outside. This was a wonderful experience that ties into the current science unit on energy.

LOOK WHAT WE ARE UP TO...

Mrs. Trout’s Kindergarteners Make Stone Soup

Our kindergarteners enjoyed a warm bowl of soup and a lesson about the wonderful benefits of sharing. Stone Soup is a European folk story in which hungry strangers convince the people of a town to each share a small amount of their food in order to make a meal that everyone enjoys while discovering the value of sharing. Mrs. Trout’s students enjoyed this tasty lesson!
