BUZZ BUZZ!!!
Ms. Ginni's Class
PLAY DOUGH CREATIVE BUGS
Some creations resembled real bugs and others were made up species. We wanted to give each one a name and make them into families.
It was so fun to see how creative the kids got with their bugs.
BUG LAB INSIDE THE CLASSROOM
We took our curiosity for bugs into our dramatic play area inside the classroom! Ms. Javi prepared the jungle environment and she included the light table with plastic bugs in jars, magnifying glasses, googles, magic boards and some journals for us to record what we saw in the "jungle".
We filled the area with real pictures and diagrams of different bugs and insects for students to view.
The kids LOVE it! Here is a little tour of our lab:
GRAPHING LEARNING!
PAINTING HONEYCOMBS WITH BUBBLE WRAP PLASTIC
We also had the chance to talk more about recycling and reusing things that we would normally just throw away. In this case, bubble wrap!
The bubble wrap actually made a pretty cool honeycomb like pattern on our paper and it was the perfect opportunity to introduce the hexagon shape and talk about how bees create and use honeycombs.
MS. GINNI THE BEE KEEPER
We learned that beekeepers wear white suits not only to keep them cool while working out in the hot sun, but also to keep the bees from thinking that a bear is intruding.
We got to try on some beekeeping gear!

THANK YOU TO ALL
THE FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE
We learned that music can sound like things in nature; that we can move to fast music that uses quick notes or a fast tempo. We also learned the name of a famous piece of music about a bumblebee, written for an orchestra to play and called "The Flight of the Bumblebee".
Ms. Ginni played the opening of the Flight of the Bumblebee by
Rimsky–Korsakov. She made some important questions like:
- “What do you think this music sounds like?”
- “What insect do you think this music sounds like?” and “Why?”
We moved and responded to the quick notes and fast tempo of the music. We turn this into a game: we had to stop running when Ms. Ginni paused the music.
