Dear Parents,
I'm excited to share with you some significant individual achievements of Bogert students that have occurred in the past month or so! Congratulations to 4th graders Ava, Raya, & Grace, as well as 5th grader Avery who have been selected to represent Bogert in the NJ All-state Choir. They represent our largest number of students selected in one audition! Congratulations, Tate, for representing Bogert at the county spelling bee championship! Tate was recently crowned the Bogert champion and will be our second 4th grader to represent Bogert in as many years. Congratulations, Autumn, for winning the NJ cyber safety poster contest (photo below). Her entry was selected from all New Jersey 5th graders as the one that will be forwarded on to the national competition! And finally, congratulations, Canon, whose design (below) was selected to represent the theme for this year's Books vs. Badges game. His artwork will be on the players' uniforms and shirts that are sold to the fans. We are so proud of the accomplishments of all students, but offer special recognition for these students' recent accolades.
March is National Reading Month and at Bogert, and a number of exciting activities will take place so we can specifically highlight and celebrate reading. For example, community members will be invited into classrooms as guest readers, students and teachers will share book recommendations during our daily announcements, and students will learn about our upcoming visiting author, Peter Brown. We have enjoyed seeing so many of you at our annual “Read-A-Latte Café," and hope you enjoy great our One School, One Book selection, The One And Only Ivan, with your children! (photo below)
All of the above doesn't happen without your support, so, as I always, I truly thank you for partnering with us to support the wonderful learning opportunities at Bogert.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kaplan

Thank you, B.L.A.ST. Volunteers!
On behalf of the roughly 300 students who participated in BLAST this year, I would like to thank the dozens of volunteers who made possible this wonderful program. Thank you, parents, for organizing the games of knockout, teaching children how to make creative snacks and meals, supervising children while they played with Legos, running dance classes, teaching yoga, and more. The children loved being a part of this uniquely Bogert program.
A "Note" From Music Teacher Mr. Chen
Hello Bogert Families!
It has been an amazing first half of the year in General Music and Chorus! The 3rd graders have been hard at work preparing for the Third Grade Show on March 21st. They have been introduced to their first instrument at Bogert, the recorder, and are quickly learning how to read and play rhythms and notes.
Thanks to the USREF, the 4th and 5th graders are applying what they have learned in general music and starting to write their own compositions using their Chromebooks through the Young Composers and Improvisors Workshop. It is wonderful seeing students so engaged in music notation this year because of this program. I cannot wait to see what songs they come up with in the coming months.
Meanwhile, the Chorus had the opportunity to perform for the town at the Christmas Tree Lighting and Menorah Lighting in December at Boro Hall. These events were great experiences for our Chorus, teaching them how to perform as a team before our Winter Concert. We had a blast and are looking forward to performing there again next year.
Speaking of the Winter Concert, the students did a phenomenal job! They performed some very difficult songs, including a 3-part round and a 26-song medley. I could not be more proud of them, and we are only getting started. In June, on top of our Spring Concert, the Chorus will once again be performing at the Prudential Center for American Young Voices with thousands of other students from around the area.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the Third Grade Show on March 21st, American Young Voices on June 8th, and the Spring Concert on June 12th!
Sincerely,
Mr. Chen
Bogert Music Teacher
