Challenger Middle School Mission
Start each day with a grateful heart! ~ anonymous
With Halloween past and the holidays approaching it is time to stop and think about all we are grateful for! Our lives are filled with smiles and high fives each day. I am so grateful for that! There are challenges, of course, but we have so much love surrounding us that it makes those challenges a little easier. Thank you for all the parents who took the time to donate to the PBIS store. Those donations made it possible to reward outstanding behavior with treats. Proud to be a Challenger Charger!
~ Mrs. Winfree

Take Stock in Children
Take Stock in Children was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization in Florida that provides a unique opportunity for low-income and at-risk students, many from minority families, to escape the cycle of poverty through education. We offer our students college scholarships, caring volunteer mentors, and hope for a better life.
Each student who enters our program signs a contract promising to remain crime and drug-free, maintain a 2.5 GPA and above, exhibit good behavior, and meet with their assigned mentor regularly through high school graduation. Upon graduation, students receive a 4-year college tuition scholarship. Take Stock in Children staff meet with students in the program each semester to ensure students have the resources they need to complete school. Student grades are tracked quarterly and immediate intervention is provided should students show signs of academic decline.
This year the application window will be open through November 30, 2021.

PTO and SAC
Volleyball teams will be chosen on Monday, November 1st.
Students will meet in the gym at dismissal. The first day of the sport, students will receive information about what is needed to continue. All sports are free of charge, with buses provided to each event. We have activity buses, available Monday-Wednesday. These buses must be signed up for prior to use. These buses will drop off at a “safe spot” as close to your house as possible. Parents or guardians must be at the stop to pick up. Intramural and insurance information must be signed and returned prior to practice. These forms will go home the first day of sign ups. The day of sign ups, please have a ride by 5:00 pm, or approval and registration to go to After Care or use our activity bus.
Please feel free to email Coach Hinton at cortneyah@leeschools.net for any questions or concerns. We look forward to our Challenger Charger Sports!

Congratulations to Challenger Alumni!
Three amazing Challenger alumni Rafael Perez-Freeman, Ian Laufer, and Sam Ford were all selected to perform in the Naples Youth Jazz Orchestra. This is a phenomenal group compiled of some of Southwest Florida's best high school musicians. It’s an amazing organization led by Dan Miller who is an acclaimed jazz trumpeter and soloist Harry Connick Jr. This season the students will have some amazing opportunities to learn from legends in the jazz world and will have the opportunity to perform at one of the nation’s most prestigious jazz competitions the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington competition.
