Jaguar Update
Sunset Valley Elementary - January 14, 2021
Flood's Flash
Hello Jaguar Families!
It has been a wonderful week so far with students being back in the building! I've enjoyed being in classrooms and watching the learning and interaction occurring amongst students and staff. It just feels good to be back together! With that though, we are learning of a few things we need to work on school-wide. As you are aware, we are following the guidance and requirements of the county to provide a safe learning environment. We want to emphasize the importance of the following:
- Correct mask wearing (over the mouth and nose)
- Proper social distancing when possible
- Cohorting of classes to prevent co-mingling, particularly during recess/staying within the assigned zone
Thank you, for supporting our endeavor to keep students and staff healthy by reminding your child about the importance of following the above measures. These are the steps we need to follow to stay in school (and we all want that)! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
PS: We've been approved for students to bring in Valentines to distribute to classmates during our Valentine's Day parties. Please look for communication from your child's teacher for more information about parties!
Best,
Mrs. Rachel Flood, Principal
Mrs. Amy Westacott, Assistant Principal

PICTURE DAY FOR IN-PERSON STUDENTS
Picture Day will look a little different this year and we wanted to share the plan for masks. School employees will help students prepare to have their picture taken and have their mask removed if they feel comfortable. When the student is ready to have their picture taken, the photographer may simply ask one time, "Would you like to take off the mask for your portrait?" If your student is comfortable removing their mask, they may do so at that time and hold it in their hand and put it back on right after their picture is taken. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the school office.

A few notes on protocols and health guidelines for LSR7
* Staff and students wear masks at all times unless we are taking a mask break while socially distanced.
* Students will hand wash and/or sanitize hands each time they leave and enter a new space. Ex: from classroom to art, from PE to recess, from classroom to lunch, etc. . .
* Classroom desks/tables will be sanitized each time students eat breakfast.
* Students will maintain consistent seating charts in classrooms, at lunch, in special class and students will have assigned line orders. These practices will help us should we need to contact trace.
* The schedule has been build with extra time in between recesses and special class so equipment and materials can be cleaned.
